College football has a ton of top-tier games this weekend loaded with talent, but Miami vs. Florida St. on Saturday night has seven NFL teams sending scouts to watch the game, according to Chase Goodbread of College Football 24/7.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, and the San Diego Chargers will all reportedly have scouts at the game on Saturday.
Miami's sophomore running back Joseph Yearby will likely be heavily watched, as he has been a highlight for the Hurricanes offense this season. The sophomore running back was suspended from the team's spring game for a violation of team rules, but if he manages to stay out of trouble off the field, he could move up as a prospect. Yearby is averaging 7.3 yards per carry this season, and has scored a touchdown in every game. He is a back that can also catch the ball, which scouts usually like to see. In four games this season, Yearby has 111 receiving yards with a touchdown.
Miami's quarterback Brad Kaaya threw Yearby that touchdown, and scouts will likely be following how he plays on Saturday. Kaya is also a sophomore, and if he wants to play quarterback in the league, he will likely need to develop more on the collegiate level. Kaaya has been smart with the ball this season, throwing five touchdowns to just one interception. Scouts likely have seen his game tape from the prior week against Cincinnati, and they probably want to see how he recovers after a loss.
While Miami offers a ton a talent that will likely translate at the next level, the biggest prospect on the field is Florida State's defensive back Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey is a highly sought prospect, and Sports Illustrated had him as the second best prospect going into this season, according to Chris Burke. The junior defensive back has 10 solo tackles this season and a fumble recovery. Ramsey has great footwork and can cover receivers downfield, but he is also physical enough to come up and stop the run.
Seminoles running back Dalvin Cook is another prospect that scouts will be paying close attention to. He is averaging 8.6 yards per carry this season, and he has scored six touchdowns. Cook will likely be an NFL running back on Sundays, but his play this season will likely determine what round he goes in the draft.
Florida State is led by quarterback Everett Golson, who is having a great year for the Seminoles. Golson transferred from Notre Dame before the school year and has done really well since taking over the starting job. Golson has thrown for 786 yards with seven touchdowns and no interceptions. Golson is not a top-tier quarterback prospect, but if he continues to win and have great performances on the field, he will likely move up draft boards.
Miami and Florida State offer a ton of talent, and it will be interesting to see which players perform under the lights on Saturday night.
