Agent Carter and her fellow SSR agents will spend much of second season tracking down the Whitney Frost a.k.a. Madame Masque in Hollywood. Actress Wynn Everett will play the established Marvel villain on ABC's "Agent Carter", Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb announced on Friday at New York Comic Con.
The studio described Frost as an actress and brilliant inventor. The character first appeared in Marvel Comics' "Tales of Suspense #98" in 1968 before she became Madame Masque in "Iron Man #17" a year later.
"Whitney Frost is a character with a storied history in the Marvel comics, and we're excited to get the opportunity to introduce her to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe," said executive producers Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas and Chris Dingess in a news release. "Inspired by Hollywood icons like Hedy Lamarr and Lauren Bacall, we knew we needed an actor who was classically glamorous and fiercely intelligent. Wynn is both, and we're thrilled to watch her bring this formidable character to life."
"Agent Carter" will welcome three other new characters in season two. Currie Graham joins as Frost's husband Calvin Chadwick, a high-powered businessman.
"We knew we needed an actor versatile enough to go head-to-head with both Hayley and Wynn, and Currie Graham is one of those actors who can truly do anything" said Butters, Fazekas and Dingess. "He brings a grounded, human quality to Calvin Chadwick, a complex character who lives at the center of Season 2's intrigue."
Peggy will try for a new romance (or two) this season after she said her final goodbye to her true love Steve Rogers last year. One potential suitor could be Dr. Jason Wilkes, a quirky yet charismatic scientist who instantly charms the SSR agent.
"We were impressed by Reggie as soon as we met with him," Loeb said in the release. "He has a unique ability to be handsome and charming while also being extremely accessible. We knew he could portray a character whom both audiences and Peggy would love."
And finally, the show will introduce the as-yet-unseen wife of Edwin Jarvis. Lotte Verbeek will play the free-spirited Ana Jarvis, who immediately befriends Peggy and helps her adjust to life in Los Angeles.
"For a character fans love as much as Jarvis, we had to find him a partner who would be equally beloved," Loeb said. "Lotte brings ease, sincerity and warmth to the role that's just perfect."
The new season will also see the return of Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark and Bridget Regan as Dottie Underwood, who will go head to head with Peggy again.
"Dottie is a true match for Peggy and Bridget plays this duplicitous role so compellingly," Loeb said.
"Agent Carter" will return in 2016 on ABC.
