Russian President Vladimir Putin met Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Defense Minister, Sunday during the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi, according to the Kremlin, Reuters reported. Moscow has attempted to communicate with the enemies of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since Russia began its airstrike operation.
Putin was able to talk to Salman during the Formula One race Sunday. Russia started attacking the enemies of Assad and rebel organizations that are backed-up by Riyadh almost two weeks ago, The Star Online reported. Some of those who participated in the meeting were Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russian Industry Minister Denis Manturov, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, and Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.
Salman said after the meeting that they deliberated about cooperation with regards to the use of military technology and cooperation in eliminating terrorism. They also discussed improvement of their relationship with Russia. Lavrov added that they are willing to cooperate with Saudi Arabia regarding the military operations in Syria, according to PressTV.
Russia has announced that the ongoing airstrikes in Syria have targeted and hit 63 Daesh terrorist posts within 24 hours, which include defensive locations and their ammunition depots. The Daesh terrorists have been attacking other minorities in Syria and Iraq, which resulted in hundreds of deaths.
