Flash flooding returned to South Carolina, halting any restoration efforts regions affected by last week's floods had underway.
Though the rain on Saturday did not match the record-setting amounts seen last weekend, the downpour was heavy enough to trigger flooding near small streams and poor-drainage areas, according to AccuWeather.
"This is one to two inches - it's not convenient but it's not anywhere near where we were," said Gov. Nikki Haley. "This is an ant hill in the road compared to what we've been through."
The downpour forced officials to close some roads, as well as extend the closure of the I-95 from exit 119 to exit 135, reported the state's Department of Transportation. The closure prevented many residents who were evacuated to get back home.
Despite the comparatively weak rain, Haley warned locals not to drive, as the rain had the potential to further damage roads that had already been weakened by the previous flooding.
Since the rains began last week, more than 300 roads and bridges throughout the state remained closed, reported NBC News. In addition, more than 100 dams were being monitored on top of the 20 that had already breached.
Haley revealed Saturday that the death toll on account of the floods had risen to 19.
