Apple will address its ongoing issue with the exclusive messaging app, iMessage, in its upcoming software update.
Apple users had barely adjusted to the nausea-inducing digital animations and effects in the new iOS 7, and now a new glitch has added to their woes. Apple's iMessage, the exclusive messaging platform that serves as an alternate to SMS when there is a Wi-Fi connection, is acting up. The glitch came to light when several users publicly reported the problem of failed outgoing messages since Sunday.
Several posts on MacRumors' help forum suggested that users were unable to send messages using their iMessage platform after updating their mobile OS to iOS 7.0.2. Some users also reported that they had to try multiple times before succeeding in sending a text or a photo via Apple's messaging platform. While the problem was not the same for all users, some even reported that the messages seemed they had gone but they later received a sending failure alert on their phones.
The Apple System Status Dashboard (U.S. & the U.K.) does not point to any interference with its services. All services are reported to be working normal on the site. However, Apple confirmed to Wall Street Journal that a very small portion of its user-base is affected with the iMessage issue, which will be addressed in the upcoming software update.
"We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update," Apple said in a statement. "In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users."
Most users reported that switching off and on fixed the problem and some had to reset the network to get the iMessage to work. But several users continued to face the problem despite trying this step.
Apple's newest mobile platform, iOS7 debuted with the launch of iPhone 5S and 5C. It was widely praised for taking a huge leap from its previous versions. However, soon a series of complaints started pouring in. Since the launch, various complaints such as excessive battery usage, non-responsive Siri Voice, typed letters not appearing on screen, parallax effect that causes motion sickness, were reported.
Apple hasn't revealed when it plans to roll out the next software update to its iOS7, but it is likely to be soon as the first update was released last week to fix the bug that allowed people to make calls from a locked iPhone without having to enter a passcode.
