AT&T Stadium Shooting: Man Shot In Head Following Dallas Cowboys Game

A man was critically injured when he was shot in the head after a fight broke out at a tailgate party in the parking lot outside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas Sunday night where the Dallas Cowboys lost to the New England Patriots, according to a police report.

Officers arrived on the scene around 8:30 p.m. after hearing reports of an altercation in Lot 10 at the stadium, said Arlington police spokesman Lt. Chris Cook, noting officers only heard one gunshot while at the scene, reported the New York Daily News. Following the shooting, a male victim in his early 40s was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital after he tripped over the retaining wall as he attempted to flee the scene, Cook said. The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and will be jailed once he is released from the hospital.

Witnesses say the suspect held a gun to the victim's head as a crowd egged him on to open fire, according to the Times-Picayune

"I didn't think he was going to pull the trigger," Lester Peters told the Star-Telegram, revealing the suspect first held a gun to his head before moving on to the victim.

The cause of the fight was not immediately known. The identities of the two men have not been released.
