Real Madrid Pepe’s Gushing Cut Near Eye Gets Stapled Shut On Field (VIDEO)

Real Madrid defender Pepe gashed his head open on Wednesday when he collided with an FC Copenhagen player during a Champions League match. A team trainer then stapled Pepe's bloody cut closed on the pitch, the Huffington Post reports.

Real Madrid played FC Copenhagen on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League match. Pepe and Daniel Braaten of Copenhagen both leaped into the air to head the ball in the 38th minute. Pepe's head hit the back of Braaten's head; Pepe ended up on the pitch bleeding from a large cut on the corner of his eye.

With Madrid up by only one point at the time, Pepe opted to have his wound stapled shut as opposed to leaving the game for stitched. A team trainer ultimately stapled the gash closed.

Pepe continued to play, albeit with a heavy bandage wrapped around his head.

Madrid went on to defeat Copenhagen, 4-0. Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria each scored twice.

"We've played a very complete game and we're going home happy," Pepe told the team's website after the match.
