'24: Live Another Day' Plot Spoilers: New Miniseries Will See Jack Bauer Take On The Streets of London

"24" was perhaps one of the most successful action drama series the Fox network has ever had. It was a huge hit. The plot centered around special agent Jack Bauer of the Counter Terrorism Unit. Each episode took place over the course of one hour in the same day, hence the title "24." The show went off the air after 8 seasons and a made for TV movie. However, that was still not enough for fans of the cult-hit. As a result Fox has decided to bring back the show for a 12 episode run titled "24: Live Another Day."

When 24 fans last saw Jack Bauer, he was a fugitive from justice. The new series will pick up with him just four years after the events of the series finale. Since that time the hero has found his way to London where he is still hiding out.

"Jack is soon back on the run and it takes us into the streets of London and in places that break new ground for the show. We've shot in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Cape Town - but now we're in London and Jack's loose on the streets of Europe, hunted by and hunting bad guys," noted Show runners Evan Katz and Manny Coto, via USA Today.

Going international is not something the series does lightly or often. However, the character of Bauer has grown beyond the simple status of an undercover agent and can support the backdrop of London and take on more international world threats than previously, when he only worked to save cities in America.

"24 has always had such a global sensibility," observes Emmy-winning lead Kiefer Sutherland. "But to be able to tell this intense 24-style story with the beauty of Europe's history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you're finished watching an episode, you'll feel like you've been there ... on the edge of your seat."

"24: Live Another Day" is set to premiere on Fox next summer and run for 12 episodes. Sutherland will return as the series lead role but the one hour per-episode format will likely be done away with to accommodate a smaller 12-episode series.
