Good news is on the horizon for those looking to take a cruise to China. Carnival Corporation announced Tuesday that it would be bringing a new cruise service to Chinese waters by 2017, according to USA Today. The company also plans to build a brand new ship for this route.
"This is an exciting time in China for the cruise industry. As the world's largest cruise company and the first global cruise operator in China, we are more committed than ever to helping China become one of the world's most popular regions for cruise vacations," said Carnival Corp. CEO Arnold Donald in a statement, reported USA Today.
Since the announcement, Carnival's stocks have risen 11.1 percent, according to Market Watch.
This brings the number of Carnival cruise brands in China to four, as the company will also be deploying AIDA Cruises to join Costa Cruises and Princess Cruises already sailing in China, according to Marine Insight.
It's expected that, with this expansion, Carnival will be the world's largest cruise market in China, according to Marine Insight. This expansion also includes the potential for a joint venture with China State Shipbuilding Corporation and China Merchants Group.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of a similar announcement by Norwegian Cruise Lines. Royal Caribbean also has plans to begin cruise services in Chinese markets, according to USA Today.
