Mexican Man Pleads Guilty To Sex Trafficking In Texas, Gave Profits To Mexican Nationals

Mexican man Gerardo Salazar has plead guilty to charges of forcing illegal adult and minor immigrant women to become prostitutes in Houston.

Salazar's gang would physically threaten the women to ensure that they would forcefully sell and exploit their bodies to residents around the city, according to Breitbart.

At first Salazar, 51, also known as "El Gallo" ("The Rooster"), and his associates would promise the women and girls that they could come to America so they could work and have a better life, but their dreams were demolished once the realities of why they were actually illegally transported to the states, reported the Associated Press. This was when the beatings and lashings started, and the women and girls were both forced into having sex with men. The proceeds from the exploitation of the women would be sent to Mexican nationals. Salazar would also tattoo the women and children with a rooster to mark them as his own.

Salazar was indicted in 2005 while in Texas, but he wasn't arrested until 2010 after being extradited from Mexico. He was then charged with conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation of minors for immoral purposes and illegal smuggling and harboring of immigrants for prostitution. He plead guilty Tuesday to all charges.

Salazar will be sentenced in January and will face 40 years for each charge, according to Chron.

Details of the accusations against Salazar can be found in the "El Gallo" affidavit.
