Recently 19-year-old Irish actress Saoirse Ronan ("Atonement," "Hanna") told reporters that she had auditioned for the highly anticipated "Star Wars: Episode VII." Ronan also joked that everyone was trying out for the J.J. Abrams film; if it's true that everyone is auditioning it could be possible that one of the greatest actors working is interested right?
Latino-Review.com has reported that Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis was recently seen having lunch with George Lucas and "Star Wars: Episode VII" producer Kathleen Kennedy.
Of course, the three could have just been having lunch and it had absolutely nothing to do with "Star Wars," but with so Abrams' camp holding on to all of their information so tightly this still counts as news.
At first Day-Lewis seems like a very unlikely fit, especially considering that the actor has said that he wanted to take a break from acting after winning his third Oscar for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln, according to the Daily Star.
While the original trilogy used mostly unheard of actors it did feature the well-respected Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The prequel trilogy also brought in an actor with some serious acting chops, Oscar winner Liam Neeson. So it wouldn't be that unheard of for an actor of Day-Lewis' stature to be added to the cast.
Latino-Review is also reporting that Sullivan Stapleton recently sat down and read for a part in the film. The actor who is most well-known for starring in the Cinemax series "Strike Back" apparently has been telling people all about his reading, thus angering the folks at LucasFilm, according to Latino-Review.
So far there has not been a single casting announcement made by the notoriously tight-lipped Abrams. With filming scheduled to begin in only three months something official should be announced soon, don't forget to check in with HNGN where we will have all of the latest news.
