World Food Day: Best And Worst American Foodie Cities For Your Wallet

Friday, Oct. 16, is World Food Day and as events take place to raise awareness for ending food hunger and poverty, a study conducted by WalletHub determined which cities offer the best and worst culinary choices for one's budget in North America.

WalletHub analyzed over 150 cities using 18 key metrics, which covered the cost of restaurant food and groceries. The study suggested that in cities that offer more affordable choices, foodies prefer to create their own dishes to stretch their budget, or sample unique dishes to widen their creativity with cooking.

Below are the rankings for the Best and Worst Foodie Cities for Your Wallet for 2015:

3. San Francisco, Calif.

4. Oakland, Calif.

5. Seattle, Wash.

6. Cincinnati, Ohio

7. Santa Rosa, Calif.

The study also revealed the following main points:

- Grocery cost is higher in Honolulu than in several cities in Texas.

- In California, San Francisco has the highest number of restaurants per capita, while fast-food establishments have the highest ratio in Santa Rosa.

- Cities with the most number of ice cream or yogurt shops are 13 times higher than those with fewer shops, while it's 39 times higher for cities with most coffee shops.
