UConn Basketball Recruiting RUMORS: Vance Jackson Set To Decide, UConn The Heavy Favorite?

Kevin Ollie and the UConn Huskies currently have a top five recruiting class for 2016 but as a program that expects a National Championship every year he is nowhere near done. Ollie has gone after four-star small forward Vance Jackson hard this summer and it seems as though they have a very realistic shot of a getting a commitment from him. Jackson is expected to make a decision on Friday night, according to Jeff Borzello of ESPN.

Jackson is a native of Napa, California and has his list of schools currently down to four. Arizona, California and USC join UConn on his final list and somewhat surprisingly it seems as though UConn is the heavy favorite to land him, according to 247 Sports. The Huskies are given a 90 percent shot at him while Cal has the other ten percent but Jackson must really like what he saw and heard in his recent visit to the Connecticut campus as that is all the way across the country from his home.

Jackson is a 6 foot-8 small forward who is ranked as the 49th best player overall and the tenth best small forward in the 2016 class, according to ESPN. While listed as a small forward many view Jackson as a stretch four due to his limited athleticism but he is an extremely skilled player who can really shoot the ball. Jackson can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court and although he is a better catch and shoot guy, like most players, he has really improved his jump shot off the dribble.

Some scouts say that Jackson tends to lose focus from time to time and he also has an extremely raw post-game to go along with his below average athleticism but overall he should be able to score extremely well at the college level and the Huskies could be adding another extremely talented player.

After UConn failed to make the NCAA Tournament last year they are looking to restock their talent. They have the 31st ranked recruiting class coming in for 2015 including highly touted five-star point guard Jalen Adams and if Jackson does commit to them he will join a 2016 class that already includes three four-star commits and ranks as the fourth best in the entire nation.
