Anne Hathaway explains her last-minute dress switch from Valentino to Prada for the Oscars night.
Hathaway was forced to make a last-minute switch in her wardrobe as there were concerns that a similar dress was being worn at the Oscars. The epic movie musical "Les Miserables," actress finally wore a pale pink Prada dress but she had desired to wear a Valentino for the grand event.
Hathaway won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award last Sunday for her work in "Les Miserables." Hathaway told reporters Sunday about her dress choice as she walked the red carpet.
"I didn't know what I was wearing until two hours ago. I tried on a lot of dresses, but at the end of the day, I loved the simplicity of it," Hathaway said.
The other side of the story to the last minute dress change came to light when Hathaway published a statement Tuesday in which she explained and apologized for the change in dress.
"It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans," she said. "Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself.
"I deeply regret any disappointment caused," she said.
It was unclear in the statement who wore a dress similar to the Valentino, which was Hathaway's first choice. The only other Valentino worn at the grand event was by Jennifer Aniston. But Time Style reported that Hathaway may have changed her wardrobe concerning Amanda Seyfried's pale, custom Alexander McQueen halter gown.
