Buffalo Bills NEWS: Sammy Watkins Sprains Ankle, No Break

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins sprained his ankle after scoring a touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport.

Watkins was seen on crutches following the injury, and it seems unlikely that he will be able to return. The X-rays on Watkins' ankle have come back negative, according to Rapoport. Watkins told the Buffalo media this week that he needed 10 targets a game, and the Bills seemed to be trying to target him early on Sunday.

Watkins had four receptions for 48 yards with a touchdown before the injury and had been targeted five times. The Bills' former first round pick had been dealing with a right calf injury this season.

The Bills are trailing the Bengals, and without Watkins, it will be difficult for Buffalo to make a comeback. The Bills started backup quarterback EJ Manuel Sunday, as starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been dealing with a left knee injury.

The Bills are likely happy that Watkins did not break his ankle, but the severity of the sprain is unknown at this time. The Bills were 3-2 going into Sunday's matchup, and losing Watkins for some time could truly hurt Buffalo's chances this season.
