Getting over someone can be heart-wrenching. But, after a while, you will eventually notice your hurt, sadness and anger disappearing. You might also realize some new things about yourself after going through a hell of emotions, especially after you've let go of everything that reminded you of the ex. Here are the signs that you're finally on your way to a full recovery from a bad breakup:
1) You no longer have the need to check or stalk your ex on social media and you have unfriended him or her, which has been scientifically proven to help in the healing process, according to iO9. In fact, you don't care if your ex-girlfriend has a new man or if your ex-boyfriend moved into a new apartment. You don't actually find your heart breaking into pieces whenever the person's name gets mentioned.
2) You're no longer wishing you'll run into the ex in hopes that you could remain friends. You've also started deleting all of the messages on your phone and in your email and Facebook inboxes. Psychologists call being hooked on the ex as "contact comfort," which heightens when the brain is under the stress of a breakup, according to Psychology Today. Fortunately, you've finally realized there's no reason to hang on to those.
3) You've stopped listening to songs or watching movies that you connect with the ex. If you do happen to catch your song playing on the radio or while having coffee with friends at Starbucks, it doesn't drive your emotions crazy anymore. You've just stopped caring for these things because you're no longer addicted to the relationship, according to a study published in the Journal of Neurophysiology.
4) You're pumped up for what's up ahead. You're now looking forward to meeting new people and all of the new possibilities. You're up for embracing the future, instead of sulking about the past.
5) You find that there are people around you who are attractive — and may be better than your ex.
