Loyalty, companionship, friendship, inspiration, and guidance -- these are few traits exhibited by dogs that touched our hearts.
To celebrate how dogs have touched our lives, here are five movies that tell stories of humans' friendship with these special furry creatures.
1. "Hachiko"
"Hachiko" tells a story of a dog who remained faithful to his master even after the latter's death. The dog frequents the place where he meets his master, awaiting his return.
Truly, relationships built of love lasts a lifetime and beyond.
2. "UP"
"UP," a Disney Pixar Film, is a story of an energetic kid, Russel, who wants to save the world.
While helping the old man Carl on the latter's quest to find the scenic waterfalls, Russel befriends Dug, a comical, enthusiastic, and somehow daff canine who showed loyalty towards him. Together, the two set off to have fun and save the world.
The movies shows us that facing life's challenges is better with a dog beside us. Not only will our pooch strive to help up, they will also sit on our side during the times when all we need in company.
3. "Marley and Me"
"Marley and Me" gives us the story of Marley, a dog who grew up and grew old in the shelter of a typical American family. The movies brings us to the different stages of a canine's life.
From being a pesky puppy who chews on almost anything, Marley grew up into a reliable Labrador Retrevier who takes care of the family's children.
During the dog's years, the family was also maturing from a struggling duo to a big family with a big house in an elaborate city.
Soon, Marley grew weak and old, and the family had to accept the dog's fate.
When Marley died, the children in the family understood the concept of death -- that things come and go in this world.
4. "Legally Blond 2: Red, White, & Blonde"
"Legally Blonde 2" exhbits exemplary love and respect for animals. Fashionistra-turned-lawyer Elle Woods was deeply troubled upon finding out that the mother of her beloved pooch is kept in a lab. She goes to Washington, D.C. to join the staff of a congresswoman in order to pass a bill to ban animal testing.
5. "Lady and Tramp"
Not only does "Lady and Tramp" remind us to continue loving our pets when a baby comes in the house, but it also shows us other canine emotions.
Dogs fall in love, get jealous, compete, and strive to belong. Dogs are very much like us.
