Just two months after she announced her split from Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani debuted a new song during a concert at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday, Us Weekly reported. Stefani seemed to address the heartache that follows a break up in the lyrics of her new single "Used to Love You."
"I just want to share a song that I wrote recently," Stefani told the crowd, as reported by Us Weekly. "This song is really special."
The song's lyrics seem to be heart wrenchingly personal, and the former No Doubt front woman took the stage solo on Saturday to perform the song live for the first time.
"I don't know why I cry but I think it's cause I remember for the first time since I hated you that I used to love you," Stefani sang, pouring emotion into every note.
The break up song was produced by J.R. Rotem, according to Billboard. Shortly after her concert on Saturday, Stefani announced via Twitter that "Used to Love You" would be her new single, marking her first musical release since 2014's "Baby Don't Lie" and "Spark The Fire."
Stefani and Rossdale announced their divorce in August after 13 years of marriage. Since the split, Stefani has been romantically linked with her "The Voice" co-star and country star Blake Shelton, rumors which both artists have denied, as previously reported by HNGN.
