It's not 100 percent official yet, but "Gilmore Girls" fans young and old have reason to celebrate. Netflix has reportedly closed a deal with Warner Bros. to revive the former WB/CW show for a limited-run series, according to TVLine.
The "Gilmore Girls" reboot would consist of four 90-minute episodes and bring back creator Amy Sherman-Palladino to give the show the conclusion she was never able to deliver after leaving the series before its final season. Cast negotiations are ongoing, but TVLine reports that the major players - Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore), Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore), Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) and Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) - are expected to return.
The reboot will make a time jump to the present day, roughly eight years after the show ended, according to TVLine. It will also try to accommodate the return of all of Rory's ex-boyfriends - Dean (Jared Padalecki), Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) - a feat that could prove difficult given the success each actor has achieved in the years since "Gilmore Girls."
Netflix and Warner Bros. have not confirmed the revival and Graham tweeted she could not confirm nor deny the news.
"Gilmore Girls" premiered in 2000 on the now-defunct WB Network before transferring to The CW for its final season in 2006. The majority of the cast reunited this past summer at the ATX TV Festival where Sherman-Palladino addressed the calls for a revival.
"It would have to be the right everything - the right format, the right timing," she said. "If it ever happened, I promise we'll do it correctly."
