Meteor shower fanatics and everyone interested in seeing “shooting stars” will very much enjoy the annual Orionid meteor shower that will peak early Thursday morning.
The shower began Saturday and will last until November, but the best view will start around 11:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday and reach its peak around 5:00 a.m. EDT Thursday.
“Bits of comet dust hitting the atmosphere will probably give us about a dozen meteors per hour," said Bill Cooke of the NASA Meteoroid Environments Office at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., according to the Huffington Post.
If the weather permits it, the showers can be enjoyed all across the United States. However, Orionid meteors are normally dim and cannot be seen very well from urban locations. Those in rural locations will have better views, reported Yahoo News.
People without a clear view of the sky can still witness the showers through a live stream by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.
