Legendary game show host Bob Barker took a nasty spill earlier today! Barker, 91, was walking near his California home around 10:30 a.m. when he tripped on the sidewalk and split the right side of his head open, according to TMZ. Luckily, cops happened to be in the neighborhood and saw the whole thing happen, so they were able to respond quickly and get him the help he needed.
The LAPD officers — who were sitting in their car when the fall happened — were able to render as much first aid as possible until the paramedics arrived at the scene. Barker, who was taken to Cedars Sinai for treatment, suffered a one-and-a-half-inch laceration and also hurt his knee. He was released from the hospital later in the day, and is already back at home resting.
Barker was the beloved host of "The Price Is Right" for 35 years before retiring in 2007. The show became the first hour-long game show on TV, and is the longest-running daytime game show in history. Ever since he retired, Barker has been focusing on animal rights advocacy and activism.
He recently voiced an animated character on Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob Squarepants," according to Yahoo: Bob Barnacle, who owned and operated a snail rescue center and used his profits to rescue, neuter and find good homes for stray snails — which is exactly what Barker does in real life with unwanted dogs and cats! He even dropped his famous closing line from "The Price Is Right," telling viewers, "And remember to have your pets spayed or neutered." The episode aired Oct. 16 and the character's resemblance was absolutely spot on. See a clip below.
