Late night parties this holiday season are likely to leave you looking haggard due to a lack of sleep, and dark circles around your eyes may become more prominent. Fortunately, this problem is only temporary!
When you can't get the right amount of beauty sleep to recover after a party, try one of these five tricks to cover up those dark circles:
1) Makeup
Know what works for your skin and use a good color-correcting concealer around your eyes. Pink concealers are perfect for those with fair skin, while yellow concealers work best for those with tan or olive skin. Check out Color Science's Mineral Corrector Palette, which allows you to mix, match and neutralize depending on your skin tone.
2) Tea Bags
Refrigerate used green tea or black tea bags for at least an hour and then put them over your eyes for 20 minutes. Wash your face and then repeat the process at least two more times during the day. Green and black teas contain elements that help reduce swelling of the blood vessels as well as tighten the skin, according to Live Strong.
3) Milk, Ice & Cloth
Pour cold milk in a bowl and soak a washcloth in it. Then wrap ice cubes in the cloth and massage over your eyes for at least 10 minutes. This process has the same effect as the tea bags, and the ice reduces eye puffiness.
4) Cucumber/Raw Potato
Vegetables like cucumbers and raw potatoes may be applied as compressors to help lessen puffiness, according to Teen Vogue. Simply place a slice of a cold cucumber or cold raw potato on each eye for 20 minutes. Wash your face afterwards.
5) Eye Cream
Prevention is always better than a temporary cure. If you make it a habit to apply eye cream every night, it can help keep the skin under your eyes healthier. For best results, keep eye creams in the fridge so that it's more soothing when applied, according to the Herald Sun.
