The Boston Bruins-Philadelphia Flyers tilt on Wednesday night is likely to be missing some key faces on the black and gold side. While Bruins forward Matt Beleskey has already been ruled out with an upper body injury, according to head coach Claude Julien, it seems he may not be the only Boston player unable to suit up. Per Julien, via Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald, Patrice Bergeron is questionable to take the ice as his wife is expecting the couple's first child.
"It's big," Bruins forward Brad Marchand said of the possible loss of Beleskey and Bergeron, via Conroy. "You can't fill (their) spots. You have to just bear down and work a little hard, collectively try and fill their spots. We just have to know this team is going to be a tough opponent. We have to play simple or they're going to take advantage of any minor mistakes."
In Beleskey and Bergeron's absence, Chris Kelly took over the center duties betwixt Brad Marchand and Brett Connoll and David Krejci was between Loui Eriksson and David Pastrnak.
Elsewhere around the NHL, the St. Louis Blues, only about two months after losing Patrik Berglund to shoulder surgery, announced on Wednesday that forward Paul Stastny has been placed on injured reserve with a broken right foot.
Stastny will be out a minimum of five weeks, at which point he'll be re-evaluated by the team's medical staff. The veteran forward suffered the injury during the second period of St. Louis' Oct. 16 game against the Vancouver Canucks.
