Latest rumors suggest that the latest Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone will be equipped with an advanced 13-megapixel camera featuring OIS technology and enhanced shooting at low light conditions.
The South Korean company decided to capitalize on highly-sophisticated camera as its selling point for the upcoming model. Speculations about an OIS-powered 13MP lens integrated in the new Samsung Galaxy S5 started when Samsung Note 3 was released in the market. The latter is already equipped with a 13MP camera with a resolution similar to Samsung Galaxy S4.
Japan- based technology site Tech On reported that the Galaxy maker’s electro-mechanics subsidiary is working aggressively at producing an improved 13-megapixel lens to fix the issues previously encountered by the Samsung Galaxy S4.
"Optical Image Stabilization," or OIS, is a technology that will solve angle errors that reaches up to 1.5 degree angles. The performance is two times better than the popular anti-shake features of those lenses already in the market. It can capture images clearly even while moving without having a blurry result. The same camera technology is also reportedly integrated on the upcoming LG Nexus 5. Existing smartphones with OIS camera are iPhones, HTC, and Nokia Lumia.
The new OIS-equipped lens will also have better low light shooting capabilities. It is expected to do eight times better than the S4’s 13MP camera.
These are the only features leaked so far. The market would be expecting more news though since previous Samsung smartphones like the Galaxy S4 had similar leaks on its features before it was released. Surprisingly, the rumors were confirmed to be accurate.
Samsung is also reportedly at the final stages of working with its suppliers in mass producing metal casings for Samsung Galaxy S5. These are said to be mass-produced by first quarter of 2014.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be released by second quarter of 2014.
