Atlanta Falcons Rumors: Julio Jones Out For Season, Snelling Concussed, Season In Doubt As Injuries Pile Up

The injuries continue to add up for the Atlanta Falcons. Receiver Julio Jones is reportedly out for the season with a foot injury. With the defense continuing to struggle and receiver Roddy White and running back Steven Jackson both hampered by injuries, Atlanta may be headed for a losing season.

The Falcons' initial diagnosis, according to NFL Insider Jay Glazer, is that Julio Jones' season is over because of a foot injury. Jones is being sent for a second opinion, but the team is "pessimistic" about the 24-year-old's chances of playing again this season.

It's uncertain when the injury occurred, but Jones did miss at least one play because of an injury before returning on Monday night against the Jets.

Losing Jones is another blow to the Falcons offense. Jackson has been out since Week 2 with a hamstring injury. He hasn't yet returned to practice, according to SB Nation, but could return after Atlanta's bye week in Week 6.

The loss of Jones puts more pressure on White, who has dealt with injuries all season. Originally struggling with a high ankle sprain, White left Monday's game with a hamstring injury.

Running back Jason Snelling also left on Monday with a head injury. Snelling was diagnosed with a concussion and didn't return to the game, SB Nation reports.

Quarterback Matt Ryan has played well, but the rash of injuries leaves him with tight end Tony Gonzales as his only reliable, healthy weapon.

Now at 1-4, the Falcons' season looks questionable. The offense is depleted by injuries, and the defense hasn't been able to stop opposing teams - especially through the air, where the team ranks 10th in passing yards allowed per game. Atlanta sits 4.5 games behind the 5-0 New Orleans Saints and one game behind the Carolina Panthers.

Atlanta hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Oct. 20.
