MLB Playoffs 2015: Kansas City Royals Going To The World Series, Beat The Toronto Blue Jays In Six Games

The Kansas City Royals defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night by a score of 4-3 to take the ALCS 4-2 and will head to their second consecutive World Series. The Blue Jays threatened in the ninth inning and had a chance to even take the lead but closer Wade Davis shut it down and sent his team to the championship.

The Royals jumped on David Price early with home runs in each of the first two innings. Ben Zobrist homered in the first inning and Mike Moustakas homered in the second but the Blue Jays did not go down without a fight.

Jose Bautista did everything in his power to keep the Blue Jays season alive as he hit two home runs but it wasn't enough as he was the only one who provided any offense. Price pitched pretty well but he is still winless in his postseason career and he was outpitched by Yordano Ventura.

The game was tied entering the bottom of the eighth after Bautista's second home run but the Royals answered right back as Lorenzo Cain scored all the way from first on a single from Eric Hosmer.

Davis did not make it easy in the ninth inning as he had runners on first and third with nobody out but he struck out two consecutive batters and then retired likely AL MVP Josh Donaldson on a groundball to third.

Not a lot of people expected the Royals to be able to beat the Blue Jays in a seven game series but they were able to in six games and they will take on the New York Mets in the World Series starting on Tuesday in Kansas City.

The Mets haven't won a World Series since 1986 and the Royals haven't won since 1985 so one teams long drought will be ending at the end of that series. The Royals were close to the championship last season when they lost to the San Francisco Giants in seven games but they will have another chance this season.
