Philadelphia Flyers forward Michael Raffl collapsed on the bench Saturday night during a game against the New York Rangers and would not return. Raffl collided with Rangers forward Jarret Stoll during the second period and took an "accidental" elbow to the face, according to Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly. Per Panaccio, Raffl skated to the bench under his own power, but just six seconds into a New York power play, play was stopped as Flyers players urgently banged their sticks against the sideboards in an effort to call attention to Raffl's condition.
The Flyers announced that Raffl would not return to the game with what they deemed an "upper body injury," according to Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Philadelphia is already dealing with injuries to key players like Sean Couturier, who took a devastating hit from former Flyer Zac Rinaldo during a game against the Boston Bruins earlier in the week, and goaltender Michal Neuvirth.
Later in the game, Flyers forward Ryan White was hit with a puck and limped off to the locker room as well. White would eventually return.
