'Assassin's Creed: Syndicate': British Inventor Makes Real Jacob Frye Gauntlets (WATCH)

One of the features that distinguish Jacob Frye, the master assassin in "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" released Friday, is his wrist-mounted rope launcher that he uses to climb buildings. See it in action in the game trailer below.

British inventor Colin Furze has developed a real-world version of this tool - including the hidden blade contraption - and unveiled it as part of the Ubisoft campaign to promote the game.

The rope launcher gadget works using a carbon dioxide canister that propels the ejected line. It also included a motorized winch to hoist the wearer up, reported Engadget. The machine works slowly and is bulky to boot. However, the fact that it works makes Furze's crazy invention still quite amazing. Watch as he demonstrates the device in the video below.

The other gauntlet featuring the hidden blade proved to be more effective and functional, CNET noted. This means that it is useful as a weapon. Furze was able to design it in such a way that it extends and retracts at a mere flick of the wrist. In the latter part of the video above, the inventor is seen successfully slicing away bags of grain and sheets.

It is not known whether Frye's real gauntlets will be made available for purchase. However, the "Assassin's Creed" video game is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $60.
