Comedian Kenan Thompson, known for his roles on "Saturday Night Live," is the new face of Fandango, the popular movie-ticket seller, according to The New York Times.
On Monday, the "SNL" alum launched Fandango's multimillion-dollar branding campaign, reported Variety. Fandango is promoting its mobile ticketing platform and digital videos available online.
Enter Miles Mouvay, a yellow-tuxedo, ascot-wearing movie buff played by Kenan Thompson, stated The New York Times.
Fandango will feature the actor on billboards in Manhattan and Los Angeles, noted Buzz CNN. The media company may also release eight 30-second ads and 18 virtual videos on shows like "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!" and "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," according to Variety.
Comcast owns Fandango, which is 15 years old, according to The New York Times. Fandango is rebranding itself as an entertainment center that offers original video series.
"The macro goal is increased moviegoer engagement," said Paul Yanover, President of Fandango and former Disney executive. "The earlier we can get involved in movie going decisions, the more we can grow ticketing."
Adam Rockmore, Fandango's marketing chief, said the company chose Thompson because of his appeal to a wide range of audiences.
"We wanted someone who could span younger, older, male, female, different ethnicities," Rockmore said.
"I guess you could say I've been practicing for this gig since I was a kid," actor Kenan Thompson said in an email according to The New York Times. "I use Fandango all the time, so I jumped at this opportunity."
The movie ticket-seller allows movie-goers to buy tickets on Twitter or online on its website, call customer service, and download a digital ticket to their phone, stated The New York Times.
