Tony DiNozzo may have a second chance at love when he runs into old flame Dr. Jeanne Benoit while on a case in the Sudan.
In the Nov. 10 episode "Saviors," Tony (Michael Weatherly) will head to the African nation for a rescue mission and reunite with his ex-girlfriend Jeanne (Scottie Thompson), who he last saw seven years ago.
"There aren't many, but she is one 'that got away,'" showrunner Gary Glasberg told TVLine, "So that takes us into all kinds of Tony DiNozzo folklore that we haven't touched on in ages."
The couple met when Tony went undercover to seduce Dr. Benoit to get closer to her father, the international arms dealer René Benoit a.k.a. La Grenouille (Armand Assante).
After she learned of DiNozzo's real occupation as an NCIS agent, Jeanne left him a letter asking him to choose between her or his job. When La Grenouille's body washed up months later, she then accused Tony of killing her father.
In their final exchange, she asked Tony if any of what they shared together was real. He told her no, but he may rethink that answer when they come face to face again.
While Tony is overseas, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will hit "a surprising hurdle in his recovery" back home, according to Glasberg. The setback will lead to Dr. Taft's (Jon Cryer) return to checkup on his patient.
"NCIS" airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
