Lamar Odom is most likely going to need a kidney transplant following his overdose and near-death experience on Oct. 13, and while many fans have reached out on social media offering up their kidneys to the former NBA star, his brother-in-law Rob Kardashian has now offered to step in as the donor.
While it is unclear if Rob is a compatible match, he is willing to get the medical tests done to find out. "Rob is willing to do whatever it takes to help Lamar recover," a source told Daily Mail. "If that means donating a kidney, then so be it. Rob has a big heart and he's willing to step up to help his friend."
This is a beyond generous offer, but Kardashian and Odom have always been extremely close. The two considered themselves brothers and even lived together when Odom and Khloe Kardashian's marriage was still going strong. However, Odom would be too worried that something could happen to Rob in the process, and that's not something he would be able to live with, sources say.
"First and foremost, Lamar loves Rob! Lam can't express how much love he has for his little brother. Words can't describe how overjoyed and gracious Lamar is after hearing that Rob wants to donate a kidney for him. That really touched Lam's heart," a source told Hollywood Life. "While it's the most generous offer anyone's ever given Lamar, he doesn't think he can take Rob's kidney. He wouldn't want to put Rob and the rest of the Kardashian family through all that stress. If something were to go wrong with Rob's surgery, that would be the end of Lamar as we know it! He couldn't live with himself. He could never look at Khloe or any of the Kardashian/Jenner women in the face...He really feels he's brought a lot of unwanted energy, stress and negativity into this family and while Rob's gesture is beyond magical, Lamar doesn't think he could ever take his kidney."
Odom's kidneys have been the biggest concern as they are the organs that suffered the most damage following the deadly mix of cocaine and herbal Viagra during his stay at the Nevada brothel where he was found unconscious, as HNGN previously reported. He is currently on dialysis and is still suffering from kidney failure. His road to recovery is going to be a long journey, and it's hard to tell what condition his kidneys will be in even once he finishes up the expected six months of rehab.
