Scott Marshall, the Season Four winner of Spike's tattoo competition series "Ink Master," was found dead this weekend in his Chicago hotel room, according to TMZ. He was 41.
Marshall's wife, Johanna, told TMZ that police officers told her Sunday that her husband had died in his sleep. A preliminary autopsy report allegedly showed Marshall's cause of death to be related to an unspecified heart issues.
The reality star's wife also claimed that her husband called her from his tattoo shop Saturday night and told her he wasn't feeling well enough to get home. Marshall reportedly stayed at nearby hotel for the night, however, Johanna said she began to worry when her husband did not respond to her phone calls the following day.
His death remains under investigation.
In 2014, Marshall won the $100,000 grand prize on the Season Four finale of "Ink Master," beating out fellow tattoo artists Walter "Sausage" Frank and Matti Hixson. "Ink Master" host Dave Navarro paid tribute to Marshall on Twitter, writing, "I am very sad. My condolences to his family."
"Spike and entire Ink Master family are stunned and saddened by the news of Scott's passing. He was a great competitor and talented artist. Our deepest condolences go out to the Marshall family and friends," Spike Network said in a statement to Deadline.
According to Variety, Original Media, which produces the show, said, "We're tremendously saddened by the passing of Scott Marshall, a vibrant, creative spirit and talent who will be missed by the entire 'Ink Master' family. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends."
