'The Kicker': SNL's Lorne Michaels Backs Sports-Humor Video Streaming Site

Saturday Night Live creator and producer Lorne Michaels is backing a sports-humor video streaming site, "The Kicker," which launches today. Michaels' Broadway Video, under the patronage of Above Average, is undertaking the site's launch. Among the contributors already appearing on the site are SNL alum and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star Andy Samberg, "Weird" Al Yankovic and singer/songwriter/actor, Wyclef Jean.

"The Kicker brings a world-class network of comedic talent to make our content great. After years writing sketches for professional athletes on 'Saturday Night Live,' I've learned how to work together to make them funny. We're all working toward one goal - to entertain the sports fan," the site's new editor-in-chief, Bryan Tucker, said in a statement, via Variety.

Tucker, a co-head writer for SNL, is in his tenth season with the storied Saturday night sketch comedy show. He's also written for "Chappelle's Show" and "The Chris Rock Show."

In an introductory article on the site, Tucker promises "videos, articles and lots of daily content for sports fans of all types. Our mission is to keep it positive, fan-centric, and most of all, fun. We're not here for analysis or commentary. There's enough of that out there. We're here to be funny."
