Flying will never be the same for a woman travelling from Dubai to New York City on Oct 26. She decided to take a nap and while she slept Nadeem Mehmood Quraishi sexually assaulted her, say authorities, by rubbing lotion on her arms, legs, chest and vaginal area, reports The Smoking Gun.
The woman, who has not released her name to the media, had taken medication to help ease her anxiety and after drifting a deep sleep, woke up a couple hours later to discover she had been assualted.
"The passenger noticed that lotion had been spread on her arms, chest, and up her legs and that the hand lotion she had placed in the pocket in front of her seat was missing," said NYPD Detective Christopher Caruso, according to NY Daily News.
The woman got up from her seat after realizing she was covered in lotion, when she made her way to the bathroom that was when she realized that her vaginal area was very sore and her undergarments were shifted out of place and lotion was on them as well.
After leaving the bathroom she went back to her seat and asked Quraishi where her lotion was and he handed it back to her. The woman went straight to the plane crew to explain what she thought had happened.
"The defendant told the flight attendants that he thought the passenger needed it, and that the passenger enjoyed it because she did not resist," Caruso stated in the complaint.
Tuesday was the first court date, Quraishi made an appearance. The federal judge in this case had ordered Quraishi to hand over his passport and that he was no long allowed to travel outside of New York without court permission. He was told to refrainn from having any contact with the victim and his bail was set at $50,000. He has since paid it with a bond and has been released, according to Daily Mail.
