Twitter has rolled out one of its largest update for Windows Phone mobile application with new customization options and more languages.
Twitter, the popular social networking site, has updated its mobile application on Windows Phone platform with new additions and advanced customization options. Twitter has made several changes to its web and mobile based applications of late. Just last month, it had introduced Twitter alerts to send emergency messages to users' phones. It also simplified the process of filtering tweets for verified accounts. All efforts build up on the social network's growth plan.
The updated app allows users to add both tweets and photos to a phone's lock screen by accessing the settings on the Twitter Windows Phone app and choosing "configure lock screen". This allows users to view the latest tweets and photos from the people you follow on the social network, which is almost similar to what Facebook has done with Facebook Home on Android.
The app is not limited to a custom lock screen, but has also added a new feature which translates tweets from 54 supported languages. This will help in adding users from across the globe. In addition, the Windows Phone app now allows users to pin searches to home-screen. This keeps all important topics at your finger tips.
"In this update, we're including a number of options to make your Twitter experience better suited for you," Charles Wu, Twitter Partner Program Manager, wrote in a blog post, Tuesday.
The updated Twitter app adds mobile notifications. Users can limit notifications on mobile from people you follow or from everyone. The app has improved search and discover, bringing photos, videos, accounts and tweets based on your search on the social network. Users can choose from a new dark or light theme for their Windows Phone app.
The Twitter Windows Phone app Version 3.0 is available for download and is compatible with Windows Phone 7.5 and higher.
