AMC's "The Walking Dead" has always been more concerned with the threat of other survivors than the actual zombies themselves. Sure, the Walkers are ever present and hungry, but it is your fellow man that is more than willing to stab you in the back and that makes him more dangerous than a mindless zombie. It's what makes the Wolves so dangerous this season and, more specifically, anyone the Wolves may be working with.
Since her introduction, fans have theorized that Enid is actually a spy for the Wolves. Honestly, it makes a ton of sense if you break it down. She hesitates before entering the Alexandria Safe Zone for the first time, perhaps because she is afraid of what she knows she must do. Her "Just Survive Somehow" mantra would help her justify doing bad things to keep living.
She also remains eerily calm during the Wolves' assault on Alexandria. She arrives to say goodbye to Carl and hands him the keys to many of the doors in Alexandria. Suspicious, no?
Perhaps most damning is the fact that she refers to the Wolves as a we when discussing how Alexandria is "too big" to defense, saying "That's how we were able to..." before being cut off.
"I think she had to join up with the Wolves to survive," Brandy Elliot of The Walking Dead Enthusiasts wrote. "I think she was their spy who provided intel on the goings on of Alexandria. I think she was sneaking out of Alexandria to provide intel to the Wolves. I think she let the Wolves know when almost all of the capable fighters in the Safe Zone were out lining up a zombie parade. And I think we will see her again."
Does the theory make sense? Absolutely. But it is still unconfirmed at the moment.
Despite being fended off by Morgan and Carol, the Wolves don't seem to be the type of people that tuck their tails between their legs and slink off in defeat. They'll be back. The question is, if Enid really is a Wolf, will she be with them when they return? And will she help them in their mission to destroy Alexandria or will she shoot for redemption and help Carl and the others? We'll have to wait to find out.
"The Walking Dead" airs Sundays at 9:00 PM ET on AMC.
