Last week, Chaz Stevens made a request to perform a satanic prayer prior to a commission meeting in Lake County, Fla., as previously reported by HNGN. The request was officially denied by the county, and now Stevens is going to file a lawsuit against the county.
The Liberty Counsel, the Orlando-based counsel who represented Kim Davis, is representing the county in the lawsuit, according to Click Orlando.
Stevens had also described himself as a "minion of Satan," and stated that he is an atheist as well as a human rights activist. Stevens explained that the sole purpose of his project, dubbed "Satan or Silence," is to attempt to persuade elected officials to either drop the traditional prayer before meetings or let him give a satanic prayer.
The reason that the Commission turned down Stevens' request was because he doesn't technically reside within the county, reported Orlando Weekly.
Stevens' efforts have not gone unnoticed, and have been accepted in different municipalities based in Florida. Moments of silence are now being held at Deerfield Beach, Dania Beach, Coral Springs and Delray Beach, reported the Orlando Sentinel.
