Following a study released earlier this year that claimed facial hair harbors feces and bacteria, Will Forte bravely stepped up to the plate and volunteered to have his beard tested for fecal matter on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," the Wrap reported. Forte was anxious to find out the results of his lab test, so he invited friends Jon Hamm ("Mad Men") and Rachel Dratch ("30 Rock") along for moral support.
"Every single person I knew was sending me this article about just what was potentially in my beard," Forte told Fallon. "i think we all know what the biggest fear is on that one, fecal matter."
Forte, star of Fox's new series "The Last Man on Earth," then introduced Hamm and Dratch, who sat on either side of him on the "Tonight Show" couch. Fallon asked for Hamm's opinion on whether he thought there were actual fecal particles in Forte's beard.
"Oh, he's got poop in his beard," Hamm said.
Fallon then played footage from Forte's swab test, which was conducted by UCLA microbiologist Dr. Sunny Ray. A "Q-tip" camera shot from the swab test resulted in a grossed-out reaction from the audience.
Forte held hands with Hamm and Dratch as Fallon read off the results. Forte's beard tested positive for pseudomonas (a bacteria found in soil and dirty sneakers,) serratia marcesens (a bacteria found in dirty showers,) staphylococcus (a bacteria found in garbage cans) and yeast (found in beer and bread, but also vaginal infections.) When Fallon announced that Forte's beard tested negative for fecal matter, he jumped and hugged Hamm, Dratch and Fallon, then ran into the crowd and hugged audience members.
