If you watched the Season 2 premiere of “Arrow” then you caught the debut of The Black Canary. She dominated as she beat Roy to the punch (literally) by taking care of the bad guys who were terrorizing a helpless young lady.
As of right now we might know a bit more than Roy (Colton Haynes) who stared at the Canary and asked, “Where the [heck] did you come from?!”
In the DC Comics, Laurel is The Black Canary. However, in the CW show, the Canary’s true identity is that of Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) younger sister Sara (Caity Lotz.)
Like many things in this show there’s always the possibility that this current situation with the darkly clad heroine is an origin story. This means that there is still hope for DC Comic fans waiting to see Laurel actually become The Black Canary.
In fact, according to EOnline, you may not have to wait that long.
"I think as always with these things, I think we surprise people with how fast get to things," showrunner Andrew Kreisberg teased. "If it's a great idea, our instinct is always to pull it forward and figure out the repercussions of it afterwards. If it's a great idea, why wait?"
As of right now, it doesn’t seem Laurel is worried about becoming a heroine—at least not of the comic book kind. She is more worried about taking down the vigilante. According to TVLine.com, this is how it may go down.
“Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
