The remains of Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin, the Connecticut couple that went missing since August, were found Thursday, and their son Kyle and his girlfriend Jennifer Valiante have been arrested and charged for their murder, according the Daily Mail. Kyle Navin, 27, was already in federal custody on weapons charges and now faces additional charges of murder and murder with special circumstances.
Weston Police Chief John Troxell said that they had moved their focus to an abandoned property after they received a call from Thomas Kerrigan, the owner of the property. His son and Kyle had been friends in the past. Kyle was already a person of interest, but police needed the bodies to confirm their suspicions.
"Kerrigan told police he was doing a clean-up on the grounds that afternoon when he found 'something' he thought might be human remains," according to The Weston Forum. "He asked police to investigate."
Sour relations between Kyle and his parents have gone on for years but had worsened in recent months. Both Jeanette and Jeffrey had confided to close friends their concerns over Kyle's continued drug use. Text messages between Kyle and Valiante spoke of the Navin's plans to "take them down," referring to his parents and "get some money out of them somehow."
