Gonzaga Basketball Recruiting RUMORS: Zachary Norvell To Make Decision On Tuesday, Gonzaga The Favorite?

The Gonzaga basketball program has become one of the best in the nation under Mark Few for the past decade plus. They are regularly in the NCAA tournament and always a threat to the high major schools. Last season Gonzaga was a two seed in the tournament and lost to eventual champions Duke in the Elite Eight but they return a lot of key guys and show no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. A big part of their success is recruiting and although their 2015 class only featured one three star they are set to do more with their 2016 class as they have keys guys set to graduate.

The Bulldogs current target is four-star guard Zachary Norvell who is from Chicago, Illinois and has set his announcement date for Tuesday, according to his Twitter page. Norvell has his list down to four schools including Gonzaga, Georgetown, Iowa State and Florida State but multiple sources believe that Gonzaga is the heavy favorite to land him including 247 Sports.

As of right now Gonzaga's 2016 class features four-star center Zach Collins from Las Vegas, Nevada who is ranked as the 65 best overall player in the class and that's it. Norvell would be a huge addition as their current class is ranked 68th in the nation and they will lose both Kyle Wiltjer and Przemek Karnowski after this season. There is also a realistic possibility that sophomore Domantas Sabonis could declare for the NBA Draft after this season as he has had a lot of buzz surrounding him after an impressive freshman campaign.

Norvell is a 6 foot-4 shooting guard that is ranked as the 76th best overall prospect and the 24th best shooting guard in the 2016 class, according to ESPN. Norvell is known for his sweet lefty stroke as he has deep range, can catch and shoot and make pull up jumpers consistently. For the most part Gonzaga is known for taking less heralded players and molding them into great college players but Norvell is a top 100 recruit with huge upside and they would surely love to have him to ease the transition from Wiltjer and Karnowski.
