NFL Trade RUMORS: Would Redskins Send RGIII to Chiefs?

On Tuesday, November 3 at 4:00 PM ET, the NFL's trade deadline will officially come. Now, this being the NFL and all, it's almost a certainty that nothing of true significance will go down. Unlike the NBA, MLB or NHL, there are almost never any mid-season blockbuster deals in football.

But what if there were?

ESPN's Adam Schefter put together a list of five trades that should happen, but probably won't. No. 1 on that list is the Washington Redskins trading quarterback Robert Griffin III to the Kansas City Chiefs for quarterback Chase Daniel (who was once a Redskins practice squad player).

"Chiefs coach Andy Reid liked Griffin III coming out of the draft, Brad Childress is Kansas City's spread game analyst and the Chiefs could have a quarterback their head coach could groom to run it," Schefter wrote. "In turn, Washington would acquire another intriguing quarterback alternative, someone the Chiefs have shopped despite the fact that he was impressive in the preseason."

Again, Schefter isn't reporting that this trade is going to happen or is even being discussed. But it is interesting for us to think about.

Barring a crazy series of events, RGIII will never play another snap for the Redskins. Although Washington did a poor job of protecting Griffin and never built a decent team around him, rarely does a QB fall out of favor with two separate coaching staffs and stick around to tell the tale. But that doesn't mean his career in the NFL is over.

Griffin proved during his magical rookie season that he can be a dynamic, game changing talent when the right pieces fall into place. Although Alex Smith has been a steady hand under-center for some time, his upside is limited and he's his current QBR of 49.5 ranks just 25th in the league.

Fans hoping for a dramatic shakeup tomorrow will probably be disappointing, but at least these trade scenarios are fun to kick around.
