Amazon Acquires TenMarks; A Move To Push Its Educational Approach Worldwide

Amazon plans to push further its educational efforts by acquiring TenMarks, a company that provides personalized online math instruction for K-12 students.

Amazon has made several efforts to grow as a company in the educational system by offering free Kindles and huge discounts on e-books for students. The retailer announced Thursday that it plans to acquire TenMarks, a company that provides personalized online math instruction for K-12 students across the country.

Amazon's recent efforts in leaving its mark in the educational system are a part of the company's efforts in getting Kindles in as many hands as possible. The latest acquisition of TenMarks will further boost its educational approach.

"Amazon and TenMarks share the same passion for student learning. TenMarks's award-winning math programs have been used by tens of thousands of schools and Amazon engages with millions of students around the world through our Kindle ecosystem," Dave Limp, Vice President, Amazon Kindle, said in a press release. "Together, Amazon and TenMarks intend to develop rich educational content and applications, across multiple platforms that we think teachers, parents and students will love."

The Seattle-based retail giant has not revealed its plans with the company but considering the TenMarks' reach in educational system, Amazon will benefit in many ways with the company's boundless resources. Amazon already offers wide range of textbooks through Kindle Store and it will find a way to put the latest acquisition to its best use.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed by either Amazon or TenMarks but the deal will come to a full conclusion by the end of fourth quarter this year.
