Last week, the polls opened for MNET's Asian Music Awards, a momentous event in the Hallyu scene.
Naturally, fans of the biggest Kpop groups flocked to the MAMA category lists to see where their idols were nominated — and to vote for them.
Three days later, let's check to see who's leading.
Artist Category
YG Entertainment's fierce rookies iKon leads the Best New Male Artist category, bagging 38.1 percent or 2,168,701 votes. They are closely followed by SEVENTEEN, Monsta X, N.Flying and UP10TION, respectively.
JYP Entertainment's hot girl group TWICE currently tops the Best New Female Artist category, gaining 32.4 percent or 1,847,982 votes. Challenging them are GFRIEND, Lovelyz, CLC and OH MY GIRL, in order of votes gained.
Kyuhyun is currently MAMA's Best Male Artist with 31.7 percent or 1,806,311 votes. He is rivaled by Jung Yong Hwa, Zion. T, Jonghyun and J.Y. Park.
IU is the front-runner for Best Female Artist with 32.2 percent or 1,833,147 votes. Taeyeon, Ailee, BoA and Hyuna follow.
There is an intense rivalry in the Best Male Group category. BIGBANG leads with 32 percent or 1,825,169 votes. EXO is very close with 30 percent or 1,710,966 votes. The two groups are followed by Super Junior, BTS and SHINee.
Meanwhile, Girls Generation is securing its Best Female Group throne very well. The "Lion Heart" singers scores 30.1 percent or 1,716,048 votes. The second highest is Apink with 22.4 percent. Also in the cat fight are Miss A, SISTAR and AOA.
Genre Category
Amber's "Shake That Brass" leads Best Dance Performance Solo with 35 percent or 2,013,104, followed by Hyuna's "Roll Deep," J.Y. PARK's "Who's Your Mama," GAIN's "Paradise Lost" and NIEL's "Lovekiller."
EXO's "Call Me Baby" is currently topping Best Dance Performance Male Group with 31.9 percent or 1,820,596 votes. And again, BIGBANG's "Bang, Bang, Bang" is closely following with 31.2 percent or 1,778,614. Other rivals include Got7's "If You Do", SHINee's "View" and INFINITE's "Bad."
Red Velvet's "Ice Cream Cake" is currently the top bet for Best Dance Performance Female Group with 31.6 percent or 1,797,713 votes. Following them are EXID's "Ah Yeah," SISTAR's "Shake It," 4 MINUTE's "Crazy" and AOA's "Heart Attack."
Kyuhyun's "At Gwanghwamun" leads Best Vocal Performance Male with 45.1 percent or 2,579,297 votes, greatly ahead of Zion. T's "Eat," Lim Chang Jung's "Love Again," SG WANNABE's "Love You" and Huh Gak's "Snow of April."
Taeyeon is the front-runner for Best Vocal Performance Female with 32.1 percent or 1,834,020 votes, greatly ahead of Ailee's "Mind Your Own Business," Mamamoo's "Um Oh Ah Yeh," Baek A Yeon's "Shouldn't Have..." and Davichi's "Cry Again."
Gary's "Get Some Air" is currently sitting on the Best Rap Performance throne with 38.9 percent or 2,221,118 votes, greatly ahead of Jay Park's "Mommae," Mad Clown's "Fire," "Dok2's "I Will" and San E's "Me You."
FNC Entertainment's bands are battling each other in the Best Band Performance category. CN Blue's "Cinderella" leads at 43 percent or 2,457,498 votes. FT Island's "Pray" follows with 22.9 percent. Runners-ups include Hyukoh's "Come and Goes," Nell's "Green Nocturne" and JJY Band's "OMG."
Zion. T & Crush's "Just" is topping the Best Collaboration and Unit with 25.1 percent or 1,433,256 votes. They are followed by Soyou and Kwon Jeong Yeol's "Lean On Me," INFINITE H's "Pretty," VIXX LR's "Beautiful Liar" and Block B Bastarz "Zero For Conduct."
Music Video
BIGBANG's "Bae Bae" is leading in the Best Music Video category with 33.7 percent or 1,919,776 votes, closely followed by f(x) "4 Walls" with 30.9 percent or 1,757,541 votes. SHINee's "Married To The Music," INFINITE's "Bad" and Wonder Girl's "I Feel You" are tailing.
UnionPay Artist of the Year
BIGBANG and EXO are 0.1 percent apart in the UnionPay Artist of the Year category. Currently, BIGBANG leads with 28.2 percent or 1,838,238 votes. EXO follows with 28.1 percent or 1,833,961. Super Junior, Jung Yong Hwa and BTS are tailing.
UnionPay Song of the Year
Again, BIGBANG's "Bang Bang Bang" leads with 30.5 percent or 1,990,770 votes, followed by EXO's "Call Me Baby" with 28.8 percent or 1,878,975 votes. In the same category, there's another rivalry between FNC Entertainment's two bands. CN Blue's "Cinderella" bags 7.1 percent and FT Island's "Pray" scores 6.2 percent. Got7's "If You Do" ranks fifth in the category.
The results were derived on the morning of Nov.3. This year's event will be held in Hong Kong Dec. 2. Voting ends Dec. 1.
