The USS Milwaukee is one of the Navy's latest warships, and videos have been posted online of the ship's admirable speed as it cuts across the ocean's surface, according to CBS58.
The USS Milwaukee is a freedom class littoral ship. It was created in December 2013, but is just now on the verge of being commissioned.
The impressive warship is being put through its paces as it endures acceptance tests, pushing the Milwaukee to its top speeds.
The USS Milwaukee reached a recorded 45 knots, or 52 mph, according to the Daily Mail.
In the video, the Milwaukee can be seen barreling through ocean waters like its nothing.
It was reportedly built for speed, being on the lighter side of the Navy's warships - and less costly too.
"With each LCS (littoral combat ship) delivered, we have succeeded in driving down costs by incorporating lessons learned to provide the Navy with a highly capable and flexible ship," said Tom Anderson, program manager for littoral combat ships.
Although it is destined for missions closer to shore, it is still carrying an impressive arsenal of missiles.
The ship is set to be commissioned on Nov. 21, according to CNN. "'We are honored to place the Milwaukee in the able hands of her crew as they set sail for the ship's commissioning," added Anderson.
