John Oliver: Kenny G Helps Smooth Over U.S.-China Tensions (VIDEO)

John Oliver had an idea on Sunday's episode of "Last Week Tonight." At the close of the episode, the British comedian took a moment to concentrate on the growing tensions between China and the United States due to an ongoing dispute over man-made islands in the South China Sea. The host told his audience that he had a solution to help ease the tension between the two superpowers: Saxophonist Kenny G.

Kenny G is a very big deal in China, so much so that a New York Times feature recently explored the saxophonist's popularity in the country and its love for his song "Going Home," which became the country's unofficial anthem for the end of the work day.

"Kenny G is clearly our secret weapon. He has an uncommon ability to make the people of China stop what they're doing and go home to relax," Oliver said. "If we could only harness that power of subliminal suggestion for good, we could all live in a slightly safer world."

Oliver then brought out Kenny G, otherwise known as "the future winner of the Noble Peace Prize," to pour some "liquid velvet into your ears." Then the musician played the hit 1988 song that became so popular in China.
