Lisa Rinna issued an apology via social media after photos of her couple's Halloween costume with husband Harry Hamlin sparked outrage online, reported People. "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star and her husband attended the Casamigos tequila party Friday night with outfits inspired by a 1978 photo of Sid Vicious, the bassist for 1970s punk rock band the Sex Pistols, and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. Hamlin, mimicking Vicious, wore a T-shirt with a swastika on it as part of his costume. Fans sounded off on social media, calling Hamlin's costume "disgusting" and "offensive."
The couple was seen out Saturday night as well, according to footage obtained by TMZ, but Hamlin was dressed as Billy Idol and wore a red T-shirt with a peace sign on the front instead of a swastika. When asked if he changed his outfit because people were upset with his previous one, actor replied, "That's the way Sid Vicious was and that's who he is."
Rinna didn't speak out about Hamlin's costume in the video footage, but she issued a public apology on Instagram two days later along with a photo of a handwritten note that read "I'm sorry."
"If I hurt you," Rinna wrote in the caption on Instagram. "We were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry."
