If you love relaxing with a glass of wine and you love animals, why not combine the two? Rosenblum Cellars' Chateau La Paws and Diageo Chateau & Estates Wine (DC&E) have created a line of wine varietals that support no-kill animal shelters. Chateau La Paws has combined its efforts with North Shore Animal League America (NSALA), which is the "world's largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization," according to its website.
"NSALA's no-kill efforts and emphasis on education and advocacy align seamlessly with our passion points at Chateau La Paws Wines - we love our furry friends just as much as we love our wine," a spokesperson for Chateau La Paws said, according to I Heart Dogs.
Each label features a rescue pup whose personality mirrors the boldness or bashfulness of the wine's flavor. The chardonnay, red blend and pinot noir were offered earlier this year, according to Disarray Magazine, but the company has expanded its selection to include cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, merlot and a sweet red blend. Each bottle has a suggested retail of $12.99.
If you prefer white wine, bring home a bottle of chardonnay with Effie's photo on it - or bring home Effie, who is up for adoption! "Effie would do best with older children in a home that could give her the time and energy she so deserves," according to her description.
Camus, pictured below, was adopted at Christmas, but keep your eye out for new pups gracing the labels...
"Through the outpouring of support from consumers sharing their love of the wine and their amazing rescue stories, we knew we had to create four new varietals featuring even more special rescue dogs," winemaker Marty Spate told Disarray. "Chateau La Paws gives us at Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines and consumers the chance to make a difference while indulging in something we enjoy - delicious wine."
In addition to showcasing adoptable dogs on the wine labels, Chateau La Paws has donated $100,000 to NSALA and sponsored events like this year's Tour for Life.
Great cause, right? But how is the wine? Oprah Winfrey suggests the brand on her website, and if it is good enough for Oprah, it is good enough for us.
