Many fans have been speculating on whether Justin Bieber's new single "Heartbreaker" is about his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. Recently, the ex-Disney princess spoke on the subject and gave her opinion on the Bieb's latest song, MTV News reports.
After Bieber released "Heartbreaker" this week as part of his #MusicMondays campaign, fans were eager to know if the star had written the song about his former relationship.
"It's a song for people going through heartbreak - like I was when I wrote it," Bieber cryptically wrote on Twitter. "It means so much to me to be able to share what I was, and still am, going through, with my fans. I'm very proud of this song and I hope it gives my fans some insight into my heart."
In an interview with KISS 98.5, Gomez broke her relative silence on Bieber by turning a direct question about the context of his new song into tactful praise.
"Honestly, that's what's so beautiful though about music," she said. "Especially him, he's super talented at being able to use what he feels and interpret that through music. I mean it's what you do to grow as an artist, it's what I've done and many people do. It's sweet."
Gomez is no stranger to singing rather personal songs about her ex, specifically Bieber. Right before the release of her latest album, "Stars Dance," a track featuring a heartfelt voicemail from her ex-boyfriend as an intro leaked online, "Love Will Remember".
Gomez and her team later scrapped the voicemail from the record after it drew in mixed responses online, including some fans who felt it was inappropriate of Gomez to add such a personal recording to a very public song. Others found it to be a sweet and heartfelt gesture towards the Biebs. The bittersweet break-up song is featured as the final song on the standard version of "Stars Dance."
