Carbon fiber-winged jetpack inventor Yves Rossy and his protégé, Vince Reffet, coordinated with Dubai's Emirates Airline for an aerial acrobatics spectacle. As the Emirates A380, the largest airliner in the world, flew over the skyline of Dubai, the Jetman duo caught up with the plane, flying in tandem and performing aerial maneuvers together with the jumbo jet, according to NBC News.
The video of the spectacle was uploaded in YouTube by the Jetman duo on Wednesday, and features the two men approaching the aircraft at 5,500 feet, flying in formation with the jet before breaking away. The video is a promotional project for Dubai's Emirates Airline.
According to Rossy and Ruffet, the stunt took three months to fully prepare, with each detail being diligently planned and coordinated. Of course, for a stunt such as this, a little error may be catastrophic, especially since it involved the men flying feet away from the massive airliner's wing, reports UPI News.
Though the video showed the two men maneuvering easily around the Airbus A380, the plane could have actually left the Jetman duo immediately, since the plane's top speed is three times that of the jetpacks. Then again, where would the fun be in that?
Rossy compared himself and his protégé to "mosquitoes" flying in formation with "an eagle or a condor."
